Large Decorated Parchment Ketubah – Senigallia, 1841 – Couple from Rome at the Senigallia Fair

Decorated parchment ketubah. Senigallia, 12th Menachem [Av] 5601 [July 30, 1841].
Ink and paint on parchment.
Ketubah on large rectangular parchment sheet, with upper edges cut into a stylized arch topped by a pointed decoration. Decorated with symmetrical pattern comprising meticulous, colorful illustrations in vegetal patterns, ribbons and curtains, and two miniatures with pastoral landscapes (landscapes such as these are uncommon in ketubot from Senigallia). The ketubah states that both bride and groom are from Rome, and came to Senigallia for the fair, and also mentions an official document made in Rome. The edges of the ketubah feature signatures of the groom and witnesses.

55.5X77.5 cm. Overall good condition. Moisture damage to edges of top and bottom thirds, slightly affecting illustrations. Some stains.
