Miniature Silver-Bound Siddur – Metz, France, 1816

Year-round siddur. Metz: Hadamar, 1816.
Print on paper; cardboard and leather; silver, embossed and engraved (unmarked).
Miniature machzor according to the Eastern Ashkenazic rite. Elaborate silver binding, with a family coat of arms engraved on its front – a gate with a pediment with a palm of the hand in the center; on the verso, the initials "DP" are engraved. Original clasp.

326 leaves (pp. 213b-292a: Torah readings, pp. 292-321a: Shabbat songs, Counting of the Omer), 8 cm. Overall good condition. Some wear. Wear and defects to margins of last leaves. Last leaf detached. Inscription in Italian script to front endpaper, on passing of Simchah daughter of Hillel HaKohen and Yocheved Segre on March 4, 1861. Original leather-coated cardboard binding. Back binding worn and torn.
Silver binding: 7X8.5 cm, in good condition.
