Torah crown. Vienna, late 19th century. Dedication inscription to the Sephardi synagogue in Calafat, southern Romania, dated [1898].
Silver, repoussé and stamped (marked with Austro-Hungarian hallmarks used between 1886-1922, and maker’s mark: VCD = Vincenz Carl Dub, active in Vienna. Inner rod marked: UNECNT).
A Torah crown typical of Austro-Hungarian design, featuring six arms adorned with foliate motifs, surmounted by a smaller crown. Inscribed:
"A donation by Moshe Emanuel Farhi… to the Sephardi congregation of Calafat, [5658]". A flat, rectangular silver bracket is soldered inside the base, with two cylindrical holders for the Torah rollers ("Atzei Chaim").
Height: 25.5 cm. Max. diameter: 30 cm. Overall good condition. Some joints loose. Several bells and hooks broken or missing.
