Two books by the Russian writer and poet Andrei Bely (pen name of Boris Bugaev; Борис Николаевич Бугаев; 1880-1934), with covers designed by Solomon Telingater:

• Крещеный китаец, Роман [The Baptized Chinese, a novel], by Andrei Bely. Moscow: Nikitinskie Subbotniki, 1927. Russian. 235, [1] pages. The book appears in two identical copies.

• Москва под ударом, Вторая часть романа "Москва" [Moscow Under Attack, second part of the novel "Moscow"], by Andrei Bely. Moscow: Никитинские субботники, 1927. Russian. 239 pages.

[3] volumes. 18.5 cm. Good condition. Tears, creases and minor wear to margins of leaves and cover. Some leaves loose. Inscriptions and stamps on back covers.

The designer, Solomon Telingater (Соломон Бенедиктович Телингатер; 1903-1969), born in Tbilisi, studied art in Baku and Moscow. Telingater worked in book design and typography and was a member of the "October Group", along with El Lissitzky and Alexander Rodchenko. In 1963, he was awarded the Gutenberg Prize for his work, becoming the first Soviet artist to receive this award.
