The present volume includes many wonderous tales of the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Mezeritch, and their disciples, forefathers of the Chassidut movement, among whom: Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zolochiv, Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk, Rabbi Boruch of Medzhybizh, the Maggid of Tchernobyl, Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli, the "Hohev Israel" of Apta, the Maggid of Kozhnitz, the Chozeh of Lublin, and many others.

The tale of the Alter Rebbe's imprisonment in Saint Petersburg, and his subsequent release, as well as the tales of the imprisonment and release of his son, Rabbi Dov Ber, the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch, and his disciple, Rabbi Aharon of Strashelye, are related in leaves 38-41.
