Hanukkah lamp, product of Canaan metalsmiths. Safed, Israel, [ca. 1950s].
Brass, cast and turned.
Back plate in form of arch, inscribed (Hebrew) in openwork with "These candles are sacred" (from early medieval Jewish prayer for Hanukkah). Arch supported on shoulders of two Maccabean figures. Removable candleholders and servant light all positioned in front, atop an elongated brass bar.
Height: 14 cm. Width: 25 cm. Blemish to one figure.
