Hanukkah Lamp – Establishment of the State of Israel

Hanukkah lamp bearing a relief allegorically depicting the establishment of the State of Israel. Possibly designed by the sculptor Aharon Priver. Unidentified manufacturer, Israel, [early 1950s]. Marked (English): "Made in Israel."
Brass, cast and turned; applied verdigris patina.
Back plate in form of a house, with an allegorical relief depicting the birth of the State of Israel. Three figures are portrayed inside the house, namely a father, mother, and son. The father is shown seated on the floor, holding a large book and mourning the destruction of the Temple. He is approached by both the mother, holding an oil lamp in her hand, and the son, who holds up the emblem of the State of Israel – the Menorah flanked by olive branches. Row of candleholders in front; servant light positioned on top of the house's chimney.
Height: 16 cm. Width: 21.5 cm. Good condition.
