Four Palestinian Hair and Head Ornaments

Four hair and head covering ornaments. Palestine, [first half of 20th century].
Silver; filigree; silver coins.
1-2. Pair of "karamil" ("qarmal" / "qaramil") hair ornaments. [Ramallah]. Pair of silver ornaments from which thin, round silver ornaments are suspended. Approx. 15.5X2.5 cm.
3. Single "karamil" hair ornament. [Dayr Aban, Jerusalem District]. Relatively large ornament, from which chains with silver coins are suspended. Approx. 22X3 cm.
4. Head ornament. Composed of a set of chains probably meant to be attached to the head covering, or, more specifically, two chains fastened to the head covering and the area of the chin or neck, and eight long chains – four adorning either side of the head – with silver coins dangling from their ends. Approx. 65X5 cm.
