Silver Belt – Azerbaijan
Belt. Azerbaijan / Caucasus Region, [early 20th century].
Silver, cast and engraved; niello; granulation.
Belt consisting of nine rectangular links connected to one another by hinges, decorated with engraved vegetal patterns and with niello. Dome-shaped ornament at center of each link. Buckle consists of two large, elegant, slightly convex links. The belt owner's name and the Arabic date are inscribed in niello on one of the parts of the buckle. Closed with two hooks.
