Passover Plate – After Ze'ev Raban

Matzah plate after the Passover Haggadah by Ze'ev Raban. Italy, [second half of the 20th century].
Pewter, cast; marked on verso "Handcrafted / Made in Italy".
Square bas-relief plate after Ze'ev Raban's title page to the Passover Haggadah of his design, executed in 1925 but published only decades later. The lip reads "Matzah" (Hebrew), depicting the Passover sacrifice and a pair of sphynxes flanking pyramids. Central three-tier frieze, depicting scenes of the slavery in Egypt and the exodus, flanked by two palm trees.
This singular plate was presumably made to order; no other copies are known of.
29.5X30 cm. Depth: 2 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and minor blemishes.
